Devin Balentina, over at the Nokia Guide, has gotten word from his sponsor MobyMemory that the Sandisk 16GB microSDHC card is expected to be shipping by the end of September. The microSDHC format should go up to 32GB, so this card would put us halfway to the end. One thing that I am sad to see, however, is the Class 2 indicator, there are on the top corner of the card. Having previously tested the Class 4 and Class 8 cards on my N95-3 and other handsets, the idea of increasing the capacity while simultaneously decreasing the class does not instill much confidence in this gadget lover.
In any case, according to Devin's sources, the card has been extensively tested with the Nokia N95 (presumably -1). If you're still using firmware v21.0.016 on your N95-1, then you'll have no issues with the 16GB microSDHC card, apparently. Older firmware versions had a load of issues, which could explain why my N95-3, which has v20.x.xxx firmware was having issues with the 8GB microSDHC card. I sure wish Nokia would update my N95-3, so that it can play nicely with the other N95's. Grrrrrr.
The Sandisk 16GB microSDHC is available for pre-order from MobyMemory now, and they're expecting to have them in stock on the 23rd of September. Hopefully we'll be able to get ahold of one here at Symbian-Guru to test with the various phones that I have available. In the meantime, Nokia, how about that N95-3 firmware update, eh?
